Content Creators I Love: Where my Inspiration Originates

If you’re anything like me, you’re glued to your phone; more specifically, TikTok. The one positive thing TikTok did for me was provide me with content creators who are either plus-size or who bring me comfort (or both).

Cat Volcy

Cat Volcy posts lifestyle content surrounding college (graduate school), wellness, and travel. Cat is not a plus-size creator, but is the reason I began doing more things by myself! Her content is very calming, whether she’s sharing her nightly rituals or her graduate school routines. Content creators do not typically change my life, but Cat has truly given me a new, more positive outlook on life and has taught me more about how to take care of myself.

Bronte-Marie

Bronte-Marie posts lifestyle content focused on makeup and plus-size outfits. Bronte-Marie has given me so many ideas on how to dress myself for my body type and be confident in what I wear. Words I often see her use in her videos are “dainty,” “beautiful,” and “gentle.” These are words I don’t often hear plus-size women referred to as. These words comforted me, and Bronte-Marie’s content helped me see myself as dainty, beautiful, and gentle.

Katy Geraghty

Katy is a Broadway actress and documents her experiences on TikTok. I did theatre in high school and am devastated that I did not have someone like Katy to look up to. As someone who has been fairly traumatised by her experience in theatre, I find Katy’s content to be very healing. She is beautiful, talented, and absolutely fierce.

Liza Saunders

Liza is a lifestyle content creator who coined the term “eat what you want, add what you need.” I only found her account recently, so I don’t have as heavy an opinion on her as I do the other creators listed. However, Liza’s content is a breath of fresh air. She has lost weight, but her content is still supportive of fat women, which I don’t see as often from people who’ve lost weight. Liza’s meal ideas are truly top-tier and have helped me immensely with my meal planning.

Emma Arletta

Emma opens almost every video with “Hey big girls!” and something about it sends a warm feeling through my heart. Emma is a model who creates lifestyle content directly targeting fat women (or, as she would say, big girls). As mentioned previously, I don’t often say that content creators changed my life; however, Emma’s content has given me a new sense of confidence.

Juicy Body Goddess

Juicy Body Goddess is a clothing store that specializes in sizes XL-6XL, both in-store and online and is owned by Summer Lucille. Her tagline is “you gotta be 2-somethin’ to do something’” and strives to give fat girls confidence, especially younger girls. Juicy Body Goddess sells all kinds of clothes, but is most known for their prom dresses. Summer even donates some of these prom dresses and has a donation fund in her linktree. Her mission is inspiring. I truly wish I had a store like Juicy Body Goddess and an advocate like Summer when I was a teenager.

Michelle Reed

Michelle is not a plus-size creator, but I’ve been watching her videos since I was about 15. Her content is calming and peaceful. She posts lifestyle content, routines, and, more recently, content about her motherhood journey. Michelle is another creator who inspired me to take care of myself and slow down.

Mary Fran

Mary Fran is a lifestyle content creator who shares her experiences with work, home, marriage, and fashion. I initially found her on my ‘For You’ page on TikTok for her outfit-of-the-day videos. Mary Fran is a ray of sunshine. Her videos are cheery, bright, and the way she talks to her viewers makes me feel so beautiful.

Samyra

Samyra is a musician and posts content focused on her life as a plus-size woman. My favorite series of hers is “Sell the Plus Sizes”, where she calls out different businesses’ lack of size inclusivity (side note – selling up to an XXL is not size inclusivity, thank you.). Samyra is active, stunning, and an extremely talented artist. Her confidence and attitude are infectious.

Maddie Zahm

Maddie Zahm is a musician who grew up plus-size and now creates music based on those experiences as well as her experiences as a queer woman. I first found her on my TikTok for you page from her song “Fat Funny Friend.” From then on, I’ve been attached to Maddie’s music, and that song officially began my healing journey.
